Equipment Manager

The Lighthouse Film Company is currently seeking a dynamic, personable Equipment Manager to join our team in Wilmington, NC. This role is responsible for maintaining and growing the equipment rental business unit of our company. In this role, you will manage the day-to-day equipment rental operations, including working directly with clients to create equipment rental quotes and invoices as well as overseeing our extensive equipment inventory. This position reports directly to the Business Manager but will interface with all members of our team as well as our valued customers.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintaining equipment rental online system and keeping equipment inventory up-to-date at all times
  • Interfacing with equipment rental customers on a daily basis regarding their production needs
  • Working collaboratively with Lighthouse Films production team members to recommend and quote equipment for shoots
  • Advising clients on equipment and rental schedules to fit their production needs
  • Creating budgets/quotes as well as invoices for equipment rental customers
  • Checking out equipment, which includes preparing equipment orders, scanning equipment, and assisting customers with picking up/loading equipment
  • Checking in equipment, which includes assisting customers with dropping off equipment, scanning equipment, and identifying missing or damaged items
  • Working directly with customers to resolve any issues with missing or damaged equipment
  • Ongoing equipment maintenance and implementation of inventory maintenance schedule
  • Working with equipment maintenance vendors to fix damaged equipment
  • Making recommendations to Business Manager and company owners on equipment that needs to be purchased and/or replaced
  • Maintaining and growing equipment rental customer base through targeting potential rental clients, implementing email marketing programs, assisting in creation of social media posts, etc.
  • Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the Business Manager and company owners


  • Undergraduate degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Impeccable attention to detail and exceptional organization skills
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions
  • Strong, articulate written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to regularly lift and control equipment cases weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Multi-tasking is a must: phone calls, emails, meetings, etc. in a fast-paced department
  • Must possess a friendly, energetic and supportive demeanor in order to establish an upbeat and professional relationship with customers and team members
  • 2 years minimum of prior production or equipment rental house experience and/or knowledge of camera, grip and lighting equipment are highly preferred
  • Experience with Mac OS and RentalTracker Software (or similar inventory software) highly preferred
  • Must be open to working a flexible schedule as needed outside of the typical work week (Monday-Friday 9A-6P)
