Director of Operations

The Lighthouse Film Company is currently seeking an experienced director of operations to join our team in Wilmington, NC. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our growing company, comprised of production, post-production, and equipment rental business units. The director of operations will oversee the financial, human resources, and business development aspects of the company. We are looking for confident self-starter with a strong business background who can seamlessly integrate into our team and efficiently execute and communicate operational policies and processes. The ideal candidate must be an excellent leader who can discover the most efficient ways to run and grow our company—all with a positive, can-do attitude. This forward-looking person should be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. This position reports directly to the company owners and is responsible for supervising the company’s staff.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Working with company owners to set and achieve company vision and goals
  • Overseeing the financial health of company, including setting and tracking company and project budgets, pricing, and expense management
  • Developing and implementing HR policies as well as arbitrating and addressing any HR issues
  • Managing company staff members, including hiring and onboarding new team members as well as supervising and mentoring staff with a keen eye toward staff development
  • Overseeing staff utilization and delivery
  • Working with staff to create and deliver new business proposals
  • Maintaining CRM system and new client outreach and follow-up correspondence
  • Managing relationships and negotiating agreements with company vendors and partners
  • Evaluating the efficiency of company procedures and recommending new procedures or changes to procedures, as needed
  • Performing other responsibilities as assigned by company owners


  • Bachelor’s Degree with a background in business (MBA preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant business or operations management experience
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Strong background in finance with extensive online account system experience (e.g., QuickBooks Online)
  • Demonstrated experience with creating and implementing HR policies
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing, motivating, and developing interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience analyzing metrics & both suggesting and executing recommendations based on metrics
  • Past experience with project and expense management software
  • Past experience working at a film company or creative agency is highly preferred
